The Franklin County Senior Options program is a home care program funded by the Franklin County Senior Services Levy, and administered by the Franklin County Office on Aging. The philosophy of the Senior Options program is to assist older adults in their homes as soon as service needs become identifiable, and therefore, enabling them to remain in their home as long as possible. The COAAA is responsible for the face-to-face visits and enrollment of clients, as well as case management for over 1,000 recipients of services.

In addition, COAAA's Provider Relations division monitors the performance of all the Senior Options providers, assuring the delivery of quality care for program participants. Staff work with the agencies to assure they are meeting all of the program's Conditions of Participation and Service specifications.

To be eligible, a person must be 60 years of age or older, a resident of Franklin County, and have a demonstrated unmet need for service. The FCSO program provides a wide variety of services, including homemaker, home-delivered meals, personal care assistance, transportation, emergency response systems, adult day services, incontinence supplies, nutritional supplements, and durable medical equipment. These services are based on a sliding fee scale, and applicants must provide financial verification in order to enroll.

PASSPORT receives 99% approval rating

Consumers gave Ohio’s 12 Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) a better than 99% approval rating on their management of the PASSPORT program throughout 2011.  On January 30, the Ohio Department of Aging released data reporting results of its consumer satisfaction survey for the entire state.

Consumers rated their satisfaction through participation in programs offered by AAAs at over 99% statewide.

“We are passionate about providing information to individuals and family members and helping them navigate through a complex system of care when they need it most," said Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging Director Cindy Farson.

"Our employees work very hard to respond to the needs of frail people who rely on in-home services, like PASSPORT, to remain in their communities.”
