The Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging (COAAA) is offering a free Healthy U ~ Diabetes workshop in Lancaster starting April 5th.  Healthy U ~ Diabetes is a six session workshop that helps people living with type II diabetes to better self- manage their condition.  The workshop is part of the Evidenced based Healthy U workshop series which helps individuals better self-manage their chronic conditions such as heart disease, arthritis, asthma and diabetes.   Registration is required and the deadline to register is March 30.  

The Lancaster Healthy U~ Diabetes workshop starts
April 5th and runs every Wednesday through May 10th 1:00pm-3:30pm
at AMVETS, 700 S. Maple St., Lancaster, OH  43130.

In six 2 ½ hour Healthy U sessions you will learn how to:

•    Communicate with your doctor
•    Discover ways to be more physically active
•    Relax
•    Deal with negative emotions
•    Manage your symptoms
•    Improve communication skills
•    Eat well and 
•    Set goals


Evidence-Based programs, such as Healthy U, are interventions based on the application of principles of scientific reasoning, behavior change theory, and program planning that are proven effective in reducing the risk of disease, disability, and injury among participants.  These programs are offered in a workshop series format.  Attendance is required at all sessions. With funding from The Ohio Department of Aging, COAAA is able to offer 2 EB programs on a limited basis which are Healthy U and A Matter of Balance.
